Slats – Safety
For safety against drowning we always advise to place handrails or a safety support under the pool cover (minimum 100 mm on both sides of the pool).
In case of a submersion of the pool cover the handrails or the safety will support the slats of the cover.
It is necessary to put different locks at the front of the pool cover to prevent that children can push back the slats of the cover and to create more supporting power at the front ends of the swimming pool.
For more security OASE automatic pool covers offers a special type of slats with a width of 83 mmm (in stead of the standard 60 mm). This type of slat create of course an optimal floating for the pool cover.
The OASE DELUXE (anti-algae) slats are also equipped with a special security hinge. The slat can only turn one side and this type of hinge also adds to the floating of the cover.
We advise to place a winter debris cover over the pool during winter. The cold temperature during the winter can make the slats of the cover porous and this cloth will protect them from the harsh winter condition.
According to French Norms (Des Normes Françaises) a pool cover can be save, only for a certain restricted installation types of cover, without a handrail or safety support.
In this case, the slats must be made of a material that is approved by a French licensing authority. On demand we can deliver our 60 mm and 83 mm slats in that specific material. Also with the NF, it is important that the pool cover is equipped with a front lock.
Never forget: The pool cover cannot replace the responsibility of an adult watching the safety of children!
